My story on how I found New Academy Canoga Park (NACP) is definitely something I will never forget. I had enrolled my oldest daughter in a summer program called “Head Start” because I wanted to keep her busy and do something productive during the summer, which is where I found NACP. Coincidentally, I was also looking for an elementary school where I could enroll my youngest daughter who was about to start kindergarten. When we went to fill out the application at NACP, my daughter strongly expressed she didn’t want to attend this school and wanted to stay in her “little school” which was her day-care. It was a funny yet difficult conversation to explain to a 4 year old about why she couldn’t go to day-care anymore.
When applying for NACP, I was informed that the school had a lottery system which continued to make it funny yet difficult to explain to my daughter how all this worked. It wasn’t until three weeks later NACP called and informed me my daughter had been selected. I was asked if we were still interested, and I yelled “YES!” in excitement. Not only because my daughter would be attending a school I had heard so many good things about, but also because I had never won anything in a lottery. So that is how my journey with NACP started, from a summer program to what actually felt like winning the lottery when both of my daughters were able to attend their elementary school.
The great advantage was that since my oldest daughter attended NACP my youngest daughter was able to attend NACP as well. NACP has made such an impact in our family that even my niece enrolled, and through that made pathways for all four of my nieces to now attend NACP.
NACP is a school where not only do they teach my children and help me, but they also keep my daughters motivated. When my daughters started going to school the programs kept them challenged and eager to learn. What I really appreciate about the school, is the formality of their uniforms. The school staff also keeps parents engaged to participate in all programs, training, and activities. I see the effort from the school encouraging everyone to participate, which can be especially challenging since most of us parents work. But when I have time I try my best to attend and have already attended three events this year. It is important for parents to be engaged with activities in our children’s schools and that is why I am so happy to have found NACP.

Ganadora de la Lotería: Cómo mis Hijas están teniendo éxito en New Academy Canoga Park
Mi historia sobre cómo encontré New Academy Canoga Park (NACP) es definitivamente algo que nunca olvidaré. Había inscrito a mi hija mayor en un programa de verano llamado “Head Start” quería mantenerla ocupada y hacer algo productivo durante el verano, que fue donde encontré NACP. Casualmente, también estaba buscando una escuela primaria donde pudiera inscribir a mi hija menor que estaba a punto de comenzar el kinder. Cuando fuimos a llenar la solicitud en NACP, mi hija expresó fuertemente que no quería asistir a esta escuela y quería quedarse en su “pequeña escuela” que era su guardería. Fue una conversación divertida pero difícil de explicarle a una niña de 4 años sobre por qué ya no podía ir a la guardería.
Al solicitar el NACP, me informaron que la escuela tenía un sistema de lotería que seguía haciendo que fuera divertido pero difícil explicarle a mi hija, cómo funcionaba todo esto. No fue hasta tres semanas después, NACP llamó y me informó que mi hija había sido seleccionada. Me preguntaron si todavía estábamos interesados y grité “¡SÍ!” de emoción. No solo porque mi hija estaría asistiendo a una escuela de la que había escuchado tantas cosas buenas, sino también porque nunca había ganado nada en una lotería. Así es como comenzó nuestra historia con NACP; desde un programa de verano hasta lo que realmente se sintió como ganar la lotería cuando mis dos hijas pudieron asistir a la escuela primaria.
La gran ventaja fue que, dado a que mi hija mayor asistió a NACP, mi hija menor también pudo asistir a NACP. NACP ha tenido tal impacto en nuestra familia que incluso mi sobrina se inscribió y a través de eso, abrió caminos para que mis otras cuatro sobrinas también puedan asistir ahora a NACP.
NACP es una escuela donde no solo enseñan a mis hijos y me ayudan, sino que también mantienen motivadas a mis hijas. Cuando mis hijas comenzaron a ir a la escuela, los programas las mantuvieron desafiantes y ansiosas por aprender. Lo que realmente aprecio de la escuela es la formalidad de sus uniformes. El personal de la escuela también mantiene a los padres comprometidos para participar en todos los programas, capacitaciones y actividades. Veo el esfuerzo de la escuela animando a todos a participar, lo que puede ser un desafío especial ya que la mayoría de los padres trabajamos. Pero cuando tengo tiempo hago todo lo posible por asistir y ya he asistido a tres eventos este año. Es importante que los padres participen en las actividades en las escuelas de nuestros hijos y es por eso que estoy tan feliz de haber encontrado NACP.
