My family has been involved with New Academy Canoga Park since the very beginning. I remember my older sisters collecting signatures and attending community town halls when the school was first gathering support to make the dream a reality. When it came time to enroll my daughter in school a few years ago, it was an easy choice. All of my nieces and nephews had great experiences at NACP and from what my siblings shared with me, I was confident that my daughter could also succeed here.
I believe that everything happens for a reason and when my daughter first started school, I had this surreal moment that confirmed to me that she was in the right place. I remember walking into an auditorium and seeing a bunch of banners with pictures of students, sharing what they wanted to be when they grew up. I noticed some of my nieces and nephews in these photos and was surprised because many of them are already in their 20’s. I immediately texted one of my nieces because her photo said that she wanted to be a marine when she grew up and now she is one! It felt very sentimental to see these old photos of my family and it reminded me of how important school is in molding your future. NACP is doing a great job of building a future for our kids because from first hand experience, I can say that NACP students truly grow up to achieve their dreams.
Aside from having a legacy of NACP students in my family, my own experiences are also a testament to what an amazing school this is. My daughter’s first year at NACP is the most memorable because it set the tone for her entire experience here. Her teacher was nurturing and a great communicator. It wasn’t only the students who loved her, but so did the parents. She became one of my friends and we still keep in touch to this day. It felt special to connect with her on a personal level and I think it says a lot about how relatable teachers and staff are at NACP. It’s a place that’s about more than academics, they really try to understand you. So I would tell parents who are considering enrolling their children at NACP that this isn’t just a school, it’s a community.

Cómo NACP pasó de Cultivar la Comunidad a Crear una Tradición Familiar
Mi familia ha estado involucrada con la New Academy Canoga Park desde el principio. Recuerdo a mis hermanas mayores recolectando firmas y asistiendo a los ayuntamientos de la comunidad cuando la escuela estaba reuniendo apoyo por primera vez para hacer realidad el sueño. Cuando llegó el momento de inscribir a mi hija en la escuela hace unos años, fue una fácil elección. Todas mis sobrinas y sobrinos tuvieron excelentes experiencias en NACP y por lo que mis hermanos compartieron conmigo, estaba segura de que mi hija también podría tener éxito aquí.
Creo que todo sucede por una razón y cuando mi hija comenzó la escuela, tuve este momento surrealista que me confirmó que estaba en el lugar correcto. Recuerdo que entré en un auditorio y vi una gran variedad de pancartas con fotos de estudiantes, compartiendo lo que querían ser cuando fueran grandes. Noté a algunas de mis sobrinas y sobrinos en estas fotos y me sorprendí porque muchos de ellos ya tienen 20 años. Inmediatamente le envié un mensaje de texto a una de mis sobrinas porque su foto decía que ella quería ser marine, cuando creciera y ¡ahora lo es! Me sentí muy sentimental al ver estas fotos del recuerdo de mi familia y me recordó lo importante que es la escuela para moldear tu futuro. NACP está haciendo un gran trabajo construyendo un futuro para nuestros niños porque, por experiencia propia, puedo decir que los estudiantes de NACP realmente crecen para lograr sus sueños.
Además de tener un legado de estudiantes de NACP en mi familia, mis propias experiencias también son un testimonio de lo increíble que es esta escuela. El primer año de mi hija en NACP es el más memorable porque marcó el tono de toda su experiencia aquí. Su maestra fue cariñosa y una gran comunicadora. No solo los estudiantes la amaban, sino también los padres. Se convirtió en una de mis amigas y todavía nos mantenemos en contacto hasta el día de hoy. Se sintió especial conectarme con ella a nivel personal y creo que dice mucho acerca de cómo se pueden relacionar los maestros y el personal en NACP. Es un lugar que va más allá de lo académico, realmente intentan entenderte. Entonces, les diría a los padres que están considerando inscribir a sus hijos en NACP que esto no es solo una escuela, es una comunidad.
