As a mother, I feel that it is my responsibility to give my children the best possible opportunities so that they can succeed in school and succeed in life. That is why I decided to register my children in New Academy, although it is not a school close to our home. New Academy is not only a school, but it is also a family, and between teachers, parents, and students, we form a great community. In which we find ourselves working shoulder to shoulder for the well-being of our children, I feel very grateful because whenever I need it, I can ask for help, and I receive it, and my children like to go to school; they feel happy; safe and respected. The teachers at New Academy are amazing human beings capable of understanding the behaviors and attitudes of our children. They are always loving, respectful, considerate, and teach how to do things right in addition to teaching them respect, patience, and prudence.
I will never forget what my dad told me when I turned fifteen. He told me, “there is the world, and you have to explore it.” There is the world; it is our responsibility to explore it, to learn from our mistakes but above all, to be humble and ask for help when we cannot do things ourselves. Nobody is born knowing; along the way, we encounter difficulties, and we must lose our embarrassment; attempt to learn something new; It will make us grow and empower us to face the unknown. Although I am embarrassed to speak English, I have more and more confidence to learn and speak it with my children and the teachers at New Academy.
I have always wanted my children to learn Spanish formally so that they can read, write and speak in two languages. Spanish is essential to me because I speak Spanish to them at home, and we have many family members who only speak Spanish; and I know that my children will benefit from speaking both languages in this country. The Spanish language is very beautiful, but it is a complex language compared to English. It is more complicated grammatically, and the words are more complex. I am thrilled that New Academy teaches all students both languages and helps us, parents, with English.
When the pandemic started; Many parents had very stressful moments mainly when we were faced with the challenge of using technology; without much knowledge of this subject; but New Academy helped us. In coordination with New Economics for Women, they gave a workshop to parents where they taught us how to use our children’s computers, and how to access school websites and Zoom. What they taught us was of great help for parents because we were able to assist our children from home, attend their classes, communicate with their teachers, and do and turn in their homework. The greatest benefit was the approach we had with the teachers because we were able to talk about the progress and difficulties of our children’s education, give opinions, ask each other questions and together, make sure that our children can succeed in their studies. I am proud that I myself continue to learn with the help of teachers, and even more proud to see my children so easily use technology with the teachings that teachers had already given them before the pandemic. Seeing my advanced children, I feel that it is worth making an effort as parents, investing time in our children will always give us great satisfaction and we are grateful that we can give them the opportunity of quality education at New Academy. It makes me so happy to know that everyone at New Academy supports and helps us, which makes us feel that we are not alone and that as parents involved in the education of our children, we can succeed.

Todos los Niños Merecen una Escuela Comunitaria como New Academy Canoga Park
Como madre, siento que es mi responsabilidad dar a mis niños las mejores oportunidades posibles para que puedan tener éxito en la escuela y triunfar en la vida. Por eso decidí inscribir a mis hijos en New Academy, aunque no es una escuela cercana a nuestra casa New Academy no es solo una escuela, también es una familia y entre maestros, padres y estudiantes, formamos una gran comunidad en el que nos encontramos trabajando codo con codo por el bienestar de nuestros hijos, me siento muy agradecida porque siempre que lo necesito, puedo pedir ayuda y la recibo a mis hijos les gusta ir al colegio; se sienten felices; seguros y respetados. Los maestros de New Academy son seres humanos asombrosos capaces de comprender los comportamientos y actitudes de nuestros niños. Siempre son cariñosos,respetuosos, considerados y enseñan a hacer las cosas bien, además de enseñarles respeto, paciencia y prudencia.
Nunca olvidaré lo que me dijo mi papá cuando cumplí quince años. Me dijo, “existe el mundo y hay que explorarlo”. Ahí está el mundo;es nuestra responsabilidad explorarlo, aprender de nuestros errores pero sobre todo, ser humildes y pedir ayuda cuando no podemos hacer las cosas por nosotros mismos. Nadie nace sabiendo; en el camino, encontramos dificultades y debemos perder nuestra vergüenza; intentar aprender algo nuevo; Nos hará crecer y nos empodera para afrontar lo desconocido. Aunque me da vergüenza hablar inglés, tengo cada vez más confianza para aprenderlo y hablarlo con mis hijos y los profesores de New Academy.
Siempre he querido que mis hijos aprendan español formalmente para que puedan leer, escribir y hablar en dos idiomas. El español es esencial para mí porque les hablo español en casa y tenemos muchos miembros de la familia que solo hablan español y sé que mis hijos se beneficiarán de hablar ambos idiomas en este país. El idioma español es muy hermoso, pero es un idioma complejo en comparación con el inglés. Es más complicado gramaticalmente y las palabras son más complejas. Estoy encantada de que New Academy enseñe a todos los estudiantes ambos idiomas y nos ayude a nosotros los padres, con el inglés. Cuando comenzó la pandemia; Muchos padres pasaron momentos muy estresantes principalmente cuando nos enfrentamos al desafío de usar la tecnología sin mucho conocimiento de este tema, pero New Academy nos ayudó. En coordinación con New Economics for Women, impartieron un taller para padres donde nos enseñaron cómo usar las computadoras de nuestros hijos,cómo acceder a los sitios web de las escuelas y Zoom. El mayor beneficio fue el acercamiento que tuvimos con los maestros porque pudimos hablar sobre los avances y dificultades de la educación de nuestros hijos,dar opiniones, hacernos preguntas y juntos asegurarnos de que nuestros hijos tengan éxito en sus estudios. Estoy orgullosa de que yo misma continúo aprendiendo con la ayuda de los maestros y aún más orgullosa de ver a mis hijos usar la tecnología con tanta facilidad con las enseñanzas que los maestros ya les habían dado antes de la pandemia. Al ver a mis hijos avanzados siento que vale la pena hacer un esfuerzo como padres, invertir tiempo en nuestros hijos siempre nos dará una gran satisfacción y estamos agradecidos de poder brindarles la oportunidad de una educación de calidad en New Academy. Me hace muy feliz saber que todos en New Academy nos apoyan y ayudan, lo que nos hace sentir que no estamos solos y que, como padres involucrados en la educación de nuestros hijos, podemos tener éxito.
